One case study we often come back to as an illustration of the lengths we go to is the E39 M5 shadow chrome finish. It was done in the factory by a robot and it would seem the programming wasn’t the same every time making the finished articles particularly hard to match.
After a few attempts themselves the owner in question came to us to take care of it. We actually bought an original rear alloy and studied it, we even supplied the wheel to the refurbisher who was then able to match it. It also helped that we have a few E39 M5’s in storage with us! Even then it took two attempts as we weren’t happy with round one.
