A truly exceptional example of the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 964, presenting extremely well for its age in the iconic Guards Red.
The 964 is widely regarded as one of the most significant generations of the 911, combining the classic character and unmistakable shape of the earlier air-cooled cars with a major step forward in performance, refinement and everyday usability. Introduced for the 1989 model year, the Carrera 4 was particularly important as it brought Porsche's sophisticated four-wheel-drive system to the 911, giving the car remarkable traction, stability and confidence in all conditions.
At its heart is Porsche's renowned 3.6-litre, air-cooled, horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine, delivering the distinctive sound, throttle response and character for which these cars are so highly regarded. The 964 also benefited from a substantially more modern chassis, improved braking and suspension, power steering and a more refined driving experience, while retaining the mechanical feel that makes classic air-cooled 911’s so engaging.
The Carrera 4's four-wheel-drive system was an especially notable engineering achievement for its time. Developed with Porsche's motorsport expertise, it gave the 964 excellent traction without sacrificing the rear-engined 911's character. Combined with the compact dimensions and superb chassis balance, it made the Carrera 4 an exceptionally capable grand tourer and an enjoyable driver's car.
This particular example stands out for its low mileage and it’s excellent presentation. For a car now approaching four decades old, its condition and mileage make it a particularly interesting proposition for both the enthusiast and collector.
Over it’s lifetime it has benefitted from a vast history of maintenance, serving and any necessary repairs. Also having some portions of it’s life spent overseas in Hong Kong and Gurnsey, no matter where it has been it has always received the care it deserves, all being done by reputable names and specialists.
Back in 2002 the car had some working including general maintenance and service work, also including replacement of the speedometer at Full Service Centre Porsche Specialists Jersey. The mileometer reads 14,006 and total mileage is 45,425.
Most noticeably, in the current owners time of enjoying this fantastic car, no expense has been spared on keeping it looking and feeling as if it just rolled out of the show room.
