I know. I can’t quite believe it either, GQ Sales Ltd. is actually now a thing.
As many of you will know, I didn’t set out to be that sales guy. The dark art as my brother, Ben once called it. Well, rest assured – there are no white boards, ‘finance contributions’ and or glass offices here!
Rather like most of the GQ experience so far it happened unexpectedly.
10 years of storing, maintaining, transporting, inspecting and generally obsessing over your cars, I realised we were already doing the hard work.
We know the car.
We know the owner.
We know the history.
We know what has been spent.
We know what still needs doing.
But most importantly – we have earned the trust to do so.
That last point is the most powerful, I have come to understand and enjoy that currency the most. You are simply talking to us about your general car lives which simply evolves naturally. “Oh, I didn’t know you did sales – perfect!”
There is no witch craft to this and we are on all marketing platforms and some. However, what is proving really interesting is that 50% of the cars are selling internally. And to ice the cake for the seller – we are baking in first refusal on buy back. So, not only is the car not lost to the wild, if the seller changes their mind they can have the car back. And given what the market and physical nostalgia is doing that can only be a good thing.
Diversity is another wow factor we are seeing – from this road proven Clio that we could have sold 5 times over inside a week to a personal highlight, this Aventador S which was the most valuable car we had sold at the time and continues to stay in the family right here at GQ HQ.
We have also armed ourselves with finance, inspection and warranty processes and take part exchanges – proper trade talk.
On from there it is epic speaking with each of you and leaning of your interests and preferences but what is so great about them all is we ultimately always align on not knowing just how good we had it. AKA the golden era. Like you, I now find myself scrambling backwards in my car search and am quickly becoming the worlds worse drug dealer indulging in my own product!
As we, or better said the industry marches forward, a sentence in a resent Evo mag stuck with me; “You can’t deliver performance by numbers alone”. While I might have swapped out the word performance for experience the Tesla vs E39 M5 example sprung to mind and thought worthy of a share…
Anyway, I’ll keep this update short and sweet as the other data I have shows me that most of you head straight for the click candy anyway! So, for anyone that’s actually made it this far I salute you – why don’t you come for coffee and check out our new retail digs. We can compare notes on the dark arts while viewing all the cars for sale!
That just leaves me to say, if you are considering changing yours, simply think it is time to cash out or would like to discuss value perhaps drop me a line.
Here's to a fantastic remainder of the year.
Tim and your GQ Crew 🚗💨
