The Ferrari 355 was the hugely successful replacement for the rather underwhelming Ferrari 348. Introduced in 1994 and in production for 5 years it was essentially an updated 348, but one that was so significantly changed as to be unrecognisable. The 355 was not only significantly quicker than the car it replaced, but far more driver friendly and many would argue, much prettier. This was the era of Ferrari under the leadership of Luca di Montezemolo, who pushed the company to produce cars that truly lived up to the prancing horse brand, which also meant cars that were better engineered, better built and therefore more reliable as well as more fun to drive.

The 355 was hailed as a revelation by the press on it’s introduction and has been wowing car enthusiasts since. The 3.5l V8 was a slightly larger version of that in the 348, but with lightweight internals and topped by 5 valves per cylinder, giving 375bhp, an 8,500 rpm and an engine note to die for. The manual gearshift was re-worked for much more precise and consistent changes and an automated manual (F1) shift offered for the first time. The chassis was an evolution of that in the 348, but far better resolved for much more forgiving and predictable roadholding. Proving a huge hit, the 355 sold well, with just over 11,000 cars produced in 5 years.

Because of their increased usability many 355s have accumulated high mileages, which is fine if well maintained, but the car we are delighted to offer is that rare thing…a low mileage car, with full service history, that has had all the right work undertaken throughout its life. One of just over 360 manual GTS produced and imported into the UK, this car was delivered new in February 1997 by Graypaul Ferrari in Loughborough and has been loved and cherished by its 7 previous owners.
